Insects at Rest

To take all these photos were taken with a point-and-shoot camera was a bit of a challenge. Bugs usually won't hold still long, and they don't like to be too close to a person. Now, if I only knew the names of each of these creatures, but I don't so I called them names like "black bug" or "butterfly" when they were probably something else. An entomologist gave me the names of several of them, but I couldn't remember what he called them. I hope you enjoy the photos.

I really like this moth. He was by the outside light in back of the house.
My cat and I found this annual cicada, aka jarfly, close to our house, He was probably near the end of his journey as he flapped his wings for all he was worth but never got off the ground. He did manage to rattle himself off the concrete and into the grass, the last I saw of him.
Whenever I find an annual cicada, or jarfly, within my reach, I have a really strong urge to pick it up and make a photo of it. This fellow didn't put up much of a fight when I placed him on these flowers.
Spider Surprise
This fellow was dangling from a tree when I grabbed a portion of his web in my left hand to make a photo with my camera in my right hand.
